For some reason I can't edit. Re-read your post though and I realize whats going on...your intake on the power head is at the bottom of the pvc, the top of the pvc is open so as the powerhead is drawing water its forcing it from the tank into the pvc and back up from the bottom straight to the powerheads output in the tank. Makes perfect sense, I'm dumb
