I know some other MFKers use this method, but I want to share it with those who don't. I'm putting a CPR overflow on a tank, but got frustrated when the "standard" bulkhead fitting limited me to 3/4" PVC. For less than 3 bucks, I can make one that will actually flow more (1" PVC) using the same size hole. More flow/easier to obtain/ cheap......sounds like a winner to me!

i used that method before...just slightly different then yours...i put the rubber gasket on the inside of the overflow..why did you put yours on the outside? ..does it make a difference?

For some reason when I put them on the inside they always leak. I have an overflow with 2 1" versions of this, and I had them on the inside but had to move them out.

Same thing with the 1.5" overflows on my 300. For some reason I just get a better seal with it on the outside. Maybe because it's cleaner? Beats me! lol

ok cool...i guess it doesnt matter than..just wondering b/c i thought i may have installed it wrong...luckily i have not had any leaks :D

"bump" for an easy affordible DIY!!!

Just to add, the thick sink gaskets work better than the o-rings because (depending on the brand of pvc) sometimes the 2 wont screw together all the way on thin material.

Got that right...I've been machining them down to fit better, and cutting gaskets from neoprene mouse pads :D.
