Cheap, easy, and available DIY bulkhead fitting

In a pinch, if the gasket leaks, take the fitting off with the gasket on the fitting, and put a bead of silicone around the gasket. Reassemble the fitting. The excess silicone will squish out when the fitting is tightened. Now you have a leak proof seal.

i cant believe i havent though about this before thanks.. i have been putting off buying the 6 bulkheads i need for the tank im building. 12 bucks is a little un called for, for something so simple..

Anyone tried having the gasket on both sides? I'm needing bulkheads for my new 150 but no-one around me sells them. I'll try anything cheap and thanks for the info!

I was messing around and having issue with the male and female threading close enough to form adequite pressure on the joint. The tappered thread seems to be a issue for me.
