How long are the sponges lasting?
How often do you clean them?
When cleaning them do you just rinse
them in tank water during water changes?

those sponges have been there for 3 some years. those sponges I've never cleaned. they are very open and have scuds living inside. no buildup.
when I clean my poret sponges I just use tap water, but my bio filtration systems are very over done. I could lose 2 out of 3 sections and I'd still be ok. normally, yes, use the tank water.
