I'm gonna get fx5 soon but I need something that's works as good and cheaper than fx5. Not really planning to overstock. It's probably gonna be 2 pairs of marble cons, 2 or 3 pairs of hrps, and a pair of salvinis. Some dithers too.

without a doubt the AC110 is the best HOB you can buy. It is the workhorse of HOBs and is absolutely a fantastic filter. most media space of any hob on the market

For the price of 2 ac110 you might as well just get the fx5 if that's what you wanted. Then later when you are ready for more filtration add a wet dry / sump.

uhhhhhh....not really, ac110 are only like $60 new online while fx5s are $240

I think you should do like 3 or 4 aqua clears.

Fill 2 of them full of sponges, and the other 1 or 2 filters fill with bio max

Or you could do 2 filters, but it's better to have 3 or more, And fill one with sponges and the other with Biomax.

Cause im planning to put two hobs in my tank. Do you think two of either or one of each is better? What media should i use on it?

Ac110 are great, mine has been running for 8+ years. As for media get 2 packs of bio max, sponge goes on bottom then bio max on top! Remember when cleaning bio just shake in tank water or ur gnna kill ur good bacteria!
