Cheaper alternative to hikari sinking gold medium?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've looked into Ken's various products. It seems i can get this stuff in the UK quite easily, and the bulk prices are insanely cheap compared to others.

The big question now is, is this stuff any good? Will it cloud/discolour the water? Does it make the water smell? And of course the main question, are the ingredients up to much?

dnz03dw dnz03dw , you seem to be familiar with this product. What's your opinion?

Hi

I only tried 3 of their product and 2 out of 3 didn't have any cloudiness affects. they do smell if the food has not beem eaten after 10-20 mins. I have no issues with them and my fishes are doing well, been using them over a year now and all my bichirs are fatties.

krill sinking pellet = no cloud
aglae wafers = no cloud
intensity color enhancing pellets = cloudy

Ive used just about everything he offers over 10+ yrs. Flakes to pellets. The 12mm krill pellets are very hard. Prob going to try some of the smaller sizes in that. They dont break up or foul the water which is nice tho. I really like the “color enhancing” lines. Seems a bit better quality than the krill but they come in pretty small sizes. Ive used the large floating cichlid pellet with good results, again they dont break up much or foul the water.
The lines i personally dont like are the shrimp pellet and Xxl catfish pellet. Both break up alot and foul the water. Hikari smells much worse than any of Kens pellets but their brand doesn’t foul my water and its def. Softer also. Pros and cons as always… Im sure i can eventually switch over to Kens with some patience. Bad part for me is my fish have been exclusively on hikari only for up to 8yrs 🤦‍♂️.
