Cheapest and best canister filter for a 300 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For a cheap canister you cant beat the CFS500 killer filter for the money.

For the 55 a 10 gallon would be okay but not ideal. Youll have a heck of a time getting all the media you want stuffed in that small of a footprint. although if you found some stackable containers to run a wet dry type filter its work nicely. You could also drill the side of the 10 and put the pump outside the sump for even more room.

Okay this stock was changed and no more turtles just fish. And the water has been crystal clear without any problems at all and I haven't changed the filter since the turtles were gone which was a month ago and all I did is do like 10 gallons of water changes almost every three days. The water is CRYSTAL clear and didn't even get foggy at all

I still wanna set up a sump but I'm not risking ruining my only large current tank as I'm not certain I will be able to move my fish anywhere in the time I'm working on this as I only have some small tanks and my fish would no doubt kill eachother during the move and they wouldn't fit in such a small tank either. So I also need to build a stand for this tank. I have 4 10' 2x4s will this be enough? For a 55 stand?
