guess i dont get it

that sure is what im thinking too....how can the sun be used as a UV Ster. when their the cause of the Algea growth...and those UV Ster. are what kills and gets rid of them all
sunlight contains a lot of Ultra Violet light...that what causes us to burn. It just needs to be concentrated via a parabolic reflector on a clear tube to be effective.
That said....john and I where joking. The best prices I've seen on UV units have been on Ebay.

on bigger models it is way cheaper to get the important part such as light and quartz tubes and then build housing/unit yourself out of some pipes
but i think the most cost effective to gallon uv is the turbotwist kind i think its 170$ for a 500gal uv they also have smaller models
