behind my iMac.... Southampton UK.
i am currently considering making a tank. mainly due to time on my hands and cost saving advantages. i only need it two have viewing areas on the front, and one end. and i need a splash roof to so if i go with acrylic i could et windows and splash lid out of one sheet. So i was thinking Plywood and epoxy paint with glass or acrylic windows/top?

Is it really only 3" tall? :D

If you use heavy enough plywood and good construction technics then epoxy will be fine, but if you go cheap on anything it can flex and the epoxy will crack. Consider some of the other choices like sani-tred to coat the inside.

Do a search on here, there are several tanks already done simular to this.

You also need to consider the filter system and if you want to drill the tank for bulkheads etc.

And don't forget used tanks. There are some good deals out there that are cheaper than building your own.

Yea...I've heard of those, I thought they were an urban myth (I CAN'T FIND THEM HERE)(probably won't even have shuffle board in 30 yrs when I want to play)

ok thanks guys, yea 2nd hand seems an option for any thing under 3' wide but here in the uk tanks that lrg and wide seem rare... ok think i need to research what to use as a coating. and what thickness ply to use, or weather to brace it?

3' high so i can use 1/2" glass... for a 2' high window.

If you need to do things on the cheap, you could put your viewing window up off the bottom on a deep tank. ie use a 2 foot high window on the TOP PART of a 3 foot high tank.

Finding the sealers over there is going to be a trick I'm told, give stotty and dandanuk a holler, their more in your neck of the world.

Keep us posted,
