Check her tail out! Female Flower Pup.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That really sucks. I have had my flower pair about a month longer than yours and they eat everything I feed the others. They have really taken a liking to shrimp. They are about 6.5 inch as well. What do you think got your male? Could it of been stress or do you think the female brought something into the system? How are the marble doing?

Personally, I think it was stress. He was eating great when I put him with the marbles. Then stopped eating. The whole front of his disk pattern seemed to melt, like candle wax. Left him in there for two weeks and never started eating. So I took him out and put him back with the female and treated both him and her with two full cycles of Metro and Prazi with daily 50% water changes and adding new meds each day for the next month. Still never ate. About a two weeks ago he started twitching and darting aimlessly and I new he was not going to make it, then last week I noticed the back of his disc would start to curl then lay flat back down. Yesterday he was curling, darting aimlessly and twitching all at once and new he wasn't gonna make it another day. Went to lunch with my wife and came home and dead. I really had a bad feeling when he went in the main system and the front of his disc looked like it melted it wasn't a good sign.

Marbles are doing great. Back to eating normal. I won't add the female flower for a while yet. Gonna get her on a multiple of foods before even attempting.
Would you acclimate her to the new system or just dump her? The water params are essentially identicle, even the temps.

Here is a pic of her 3 days before she started eating. She had been essentially with out food for 5 weeks. As you cans see sunken in the back along spine and sunken behind head with ribs bulging. Also had bone protruding under eyes and hips looked like the would puncture her skin. And when you looked underneath her belly was so sunken that I probably touched her spine. At this point I didn't think she would make it....

Awesome recovery! Congrats!

Awesome turn around after seeing that pic. When I moved mine from QT if kept them divided to make sure they would eat good in the big tank. I took them out and put them in my garage pond for about 3 weeks. When I got the jaguar in I put them in the big tank but kept divided for about a week and then let them go. They ate shrimp before but now with the competition in the tank they eat it a lot more aggressively. I love watching flowers eat. They will pounce so hard it sends food a half a foot off the bottom LOL

sucks about the male, got me worried now that my big motoro is going to stress my flower..

Man they tail on your female is amazing!!

Marbles didn't even have a chance to stress him, I think he just didn't do well when he was moved to the main stystem.
After three days I put a divider in and he still didn't adjust. Just went down hill. As long as yours is eating well I wouldn't
worry about it.

Thanks, I love the tail also.
