Turtles can be more aggressive than most people believe, even box turtles will over come small animals sometimes.

That's true. Years ago I had a male Eastern Box Turtle that use to try to kill toads if they got into his pen. Some of them were pretty big too.

It might be some species of African Mud Turtle. They are known to prey on doves that land near the edge of watering holes.

its been awhile but i seen something on them on discovery or animal planet...think they are called terrapin turtles, and there from africa....i could be wrong....
