Check it out, WiFi power strip - time/energy saver

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It has a 4.5......

Sure, for those that can't be bothered reading some of the comments that might seem impressive. But 400 positive reviews, and 80 critical, isn't exactly a glowing review on a product. Do the math, not exactly what I'd call a home run. lol

But hey, don't let me rain on anyones parade. Good luck.

Hello; For what it is worth I tried some of the digital timers. The main problem has been they do not come back to the setting after a power outage. My house power flicks off briefly fairly often. Yours being wi-fi may have better function. Good luck.

I use a longer strip of eight spread out for ease of plugging manual switches to and or digital timers. I like the manual switch as it lets me see when power is on and shutting down for WC.

If starting over, I would give it a try if they had a longer version with more outlets. Wi-fi tech is common enough and I would not be too concerned.

Last I checked, my DC pumps, heaters, LED light, ATO are all made from China LOL. Most of our equipment has already been outsourced to China. But don't blame China, blame manufacturers wanting higher margins. They could easily produce here or produce with equal quality in China at a higher cost to you and I.

Yup, this is true. While most of my equipment is non Chinese made, it's getting more difficult to find with each passing year. We actually have a Kasa (single) receptacle unit that our kid gave me for Xmas a few yrs back. A few months ago I came across it when cleaning a closet in my office & was going to toss it out, but my wife decided to use it to control a light in a living space of ours. She can now turn that light off & on with her phone. ok? lol

Where we live, the electrical grid is far more consistent than cable/wifi.

Hmmm....

My lights all have built-in timers, or are utilized with separate timers. Been working fine so far, but I've only been testing the idea for about 30 years, so too soon to draw conclusions.

The other stuff in my tanks that needs to be turned off and on regularly...wait...what stuff is that? What would be the benefit of having filters that don't run 24/7? Maybe there is some circumstance where I want a pump to be turned off during feeding...or at least I occasionally read about it...but I have never discovered that circumstance.

Water changes? I am there doing the water changes; I want to turn heaters/pumps/filters on/off myself. I don't stick my hands into the water when there is live equipment in there...and I don't trust the equipment to not be live just because a $10 electro-gizmo is supposed to have turned them off.

Sorry, but to me this looks like a case of "Hey! That's cool...I want it!" As usual, this is immediately followed by "Okay, I've got it. Now...what do I do with it? Gotta justify this somehow..." :)

Yes, everyone will have a different use case and priority with what and how they will use this for aquarium use. Interesting the first Amazon review was a guy using it for his reef set up.

If we looked hard enough there are many things people have that we would consider not neccessary and can be done manually.

Hey I'm not totally old school, I use a camera to watch my tanks remotely while I am draining and most importantly refilling. I added that layer of redundancy after a few 'minor' overfills while preoccupied in another area of the ranch. lol
I only trust it as working, as I can see the fish moving around.

WOW. haha. You live on a ranch? Cool. Did you loose any fish when you over filled it?

Only in my mind. Never lost any fish, just a PO'd misses.
