No its just aquarium sand.

Since we're on the topic of sand. How to you all remove waste from the sand?

You can use a vaccuum thingy, just dont go into the sand hover over it and if need be use your hand to swerl the waste up and the suck it up like that.

I feel your pain man! I'm also 15 and no help from mom and dad. Kinda sucks but gives me more of a sense of accomplishment. BTW how big are your blood parrots and how long did it take to get that big. The sand looks really nice.
