I got this guy a while back from a local breeder (of other cichlids) who was selling off everything. I won't say what I paid for it because I'm pretty sure it would create a lot of enemies (:WHOA:) but let's just say it was a good deal. He was pretty shy at first and the cichlids in the tank liked to bite off the streamers off his tail but they kept growing back and they haven't messed with him for quite a while so I think they're over nipping at his fins now. Quite a few plecos in that tank so I think the other fish are pretty well used to them by now. I've had pretty healthy offers to buy him but after much debate I came to the conclusion that I will likely never get another one (especially at this price) if I sell him so I've decided to just keep him. Anyway, here's a couple pics I snapped of him earlier:

I remember your first post about this guy, it looks totally different now. We were debating if it was infact l24... not that it has grown, it sure is L24! I think if I remember it right, you pick him up for 30? Its a real beauty! How big is it now/how much has it grown since you got him? what have you been feeding him?
That was a perfect choice to keep him! Very very nice!

Maybe you were debating.

I actually got him along with a Synodontis Petricola cat and another male cichlid for only $30 so I put him at around $15 or less which is a steal for him. Hell, even at the whole $30 it's a steal and the cat would be a good price at that too. Needless to say I'm quite happy with my purchase and they're both getting bigger (the cat is real fat) and are healthy as can be. I can't wait until the plec gets bigger and I'm hoping colors up even more like some of the other larger ones I've seen.

Not sure how much he's grown but it's not a ton. He does seem like he's filled out a little more but if he's grown in length it's maybe a half inch to an inch or so. I found the original picture I posted and I will edit the first post to show the difference because he holds his fins a lot more 'proud' now and has gotten healthier overall I would say. As for food my plecos get a pretty steady diet of zucchini at night and then they tend to come out at feeding time to get their fair share of Hikari Gold pellet food too. There is also plenty of drift wood provided for those that like to rasp like the Royals.

I'm glad I kept him!

Edit: It won't let me edit the OP so here's the picture from when I got him:

...and now:

I should note that my camera phone now is better than it was then (Evo 4G vs new Evo 4G LTE) plus he poses slightly better for pictures now than he did then. He's still difficult to capture in photograph but he is more comfortable in the tank now than he was then. That original picture was just a bad picture is what I'm getting at.

Very nice L24 in deed.. Keep pictures coming tho, seems like there's a bunch of L25's... how about more pictures of L24's?

What are you feeding yours? His lines are much more red than mine that are kind of faded orange at best. Curious if it's a different in diet or what.

The picture I posted is not mine, its a friends and I been wanting to buy it from him. He bought it for 30 bucks about 5 years ago when it was 3". He doesnt even know how rare it is. I got mine at a member here from California. I owe him big time, we went thru hell just going thru shipping. Ill post pics later. Im not sure what he feeds his l24 but I think as they grow bigger, the red will intensify.
