check out my oscar, dempsey and flowerhorn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
o yea... regardless of who you keep...(FH for the win!!) you will need to upgrade your tank size, even if you were just to keep one of them...

Yeah a 40 gallon is to small for any of those fish. They will live in there fine ( assuming you keep the water quality pristine) but won't be to happy or comfortable.

You need a WAY bigger tank that tank isn't even big enough for one of those fish man. To maybe have a chance I'd get a 200g if not bigger. But that flowerhorn will kill all those fish eventually. You need to either sell them or upgrade.

I agree. A flowerhorn and an oscar both grow too large too fast to be kept in a 40 gallon. A jack dempsey is going to outgrow it eventually but probably not for 2 years. The flowerhorn can and will end up killing both tank mates if kept together regardless of tank size.

Live food = sickness, disease, and parasites.

The best diet for those fish is just a good cichlid pellet. The more variety in their diet the better. Some of the best brands to feed them would be new life spectrum, hikari, omega one.

Im going to put the threadstarter on my block list until he gets a proper tank.

How will you know if he got a proper tank then?? :headbang2

Good job on helping give solid advice...half the people on this site would have inadequate tanks/setups if everyone took your attitude toward people being responsible and at least asking what others thought of their current setups

Enough of the flaming. Offer advice or don't post.

MAC FTW!!:headbang2

like all of us said bigger tank bro!!

also like i said earlier frozen cichlid food, and some hikari massivore(order hikari online because you will get ripped off at LFS!) you can also read up online and try different veggies to try or shrimp... also my texas eats the algae waffers by hikari(swallow them hole) so you can try a small bag of those if you want to... i think they have phosphorus where the massivores don't... i forget... i know the protein levels and crap are different too...

**also no matter what don't feed live!! good luck and post new pics when you get a bigger home for those guys....

Its not my job to deal with people whose posts irritate and bother me to read. Especially if they have a bad attitude as indicated in the "little brother" post.
