Just got this guy at the LFS, they had him labeled Cichla Ocellaris, what do you guys think. Man these things are fast, mine is at 3-4” and is a jet. He’ll be going into the 240 after I get the filtration setup and cycled.

I as long as the tank they are in isnt too small I would wait to move them into the bigger tank try and ween them off of live food in the smaller tank. Try dropping in one feeder at a time so that they will hit the food as soon as it hits the tank. Eventually mix in a small silverside or small prawn in between feeders. Mix in more and more dead food until they are only eating prepared foods.

Nice little guy :)

Great background

Nice p bass

Yeah, I thought the golf background would be unique, I like it. I have some black neons in there with him, just saw him catch one. Hopefully he does grow pretty quick, he has to keep up with a silver arowana already 6". For tankmates I was thinking of the following in a 240g with around 1200 gph running through the sump.
1 silver arowana
1 Peacock bass
1 3 bar dat
1 short nose gar
1 electric blue jack dempsey
6 bala sharks
maybe 1 common pleco or a clown knife.
Will this be too stocked assuming I am doing ~35% water changes per week?

That shouldnt be too bad. You might want to up your flow a bit though something more like 1500+ gph. You'd probably want to cycle the tank 7-10 times an hour.
