Man you got a great deal on that pleco. Those are extremely rare and at that size! I saw some from belowwater at 2 inches for almost $400 and not including shipping. let him be the center of the tank and I would keep him with non agressive fish. Nice pick up!
Yeah, I'm pretty excited with the deal. I only have the one tank and it's a 72gal bowfront with lots of plecos and cichlids. I'm not too worried about him though and he's already holding his own. There was a few fish that tried to swim into his little area he claimed and he's quick to chase them off and that was an hour or two after being introduced into the tank so I'm not worried about him at all. So long as he enjoys zucchini he'll have a great and hopefully long life in that tank. I can't wait to get some better pics of him to post up. I may have underestimated his size too because he's pretty good size.
He is a pseudacanthicas flame pleco. He will max out around 12 inches and is more of a carnivore. I don't know if he will touch zuchinni. I have a large L-114 which is similiar to the L-24. Try giving him prawns or market shrimp. Also I give my L-114 NLS 3 mm pellets as a staple. My L-114 will never touch veggies. Any chance that shop has anymore of them?
Prawns? Market shrimp? I have no plans to feed my plecos better than I eat. lol I read they will eat veggies too which is what I feed my other plecos so between that, the fish food and algae he'll probably be fine. I got them from a guy, not a shop and nope... that was all he had. Just the one and I'm still not sure the source but I may see if he knows. I'm just happy to have it.
Dude that is some awesome pick up! I been on a hunt for L24 or L25 for a long time and I been begging someone that i know to try to ship two l25's but they want 200 each! YOu are so G!D damn lucky! So freakin lucky that i wanna scream with jealousy!!!! One day, one day! someone will get rid of theirs in my area! ha ha .... I agree tho, i would take care of her very very very well, shrimp, blood worms, lots of hidding... like everyone else saying, that thing is worth atleast 200 plus, specially good size you got!
Yeah, I'm always on the outside looking in at insane finds on stuff like this and I finally got to be the one to have a great find at an even better price. Yea me!

They get larger than that. I've seen one about 40cm/16" and read about larger.
These are a much more meat based diet plec than your standard Ancistrus, Baryancistrus etc. Their teeth are not designed to scrape algae, but to pick at flesh, so you really should provide this. I've read that some will eat soft vegetables, but you definitely shouldn't rely on this.
