I have heard that they were in Utah somewhere but never knew where. Thanks for the info. Maybe some of us in the west can go get some "wild caughts".

they wont be truly wild caughts, just offspring of captive fish that are now in the wild

thats cool but i hope they don't have a bad effect on the ecosystem

do you think because they stated the jag having a similar attitude to already native fish such as the bass that they won't cause that much of a problem?

That would be why I put "wild caughts" in quotes. Although to the purist they are not, officially they are, because they were born in the wild and caught in the wild.

It's crap like this that leads to the eventual banning of the species for hobbyists. What a shame.
They are banned here for that reason.. though they are also in every petstore...

Whoa, is Utah actually warm enough for cichlids to survive the winter? :o

We have a HIGH quantity of Geo thremal ;) Though if you finish the article it states that the problem was suspected to be solved... Oh sorry hold up that article only goes into minor details.

I had a friend go out and look in the area that was said to house them... he said there was so much development since the article that he couldn't even find much water...
And the water holes he did find he said looked to be housing nothing living. This was only a few weeks ago that I requested and his answer came back a day or two later.

The goverment here is also a big part of bad things :( This is a minor issue compared to the June sucker they dam near made extinct :(

Still It is stupidity... And should not be done..
