My great LFS just recent closed, So I had to vist a half decent mom and pop shop in the city. I buy a 3.5oz back of sinking Hikari. Also got a Pike cichlid, Hes awesome, no complaints there.
Anyway, I get home open the bag feed my fish a couple, They gobble them up like usual.
Then I start comparing the ingedients on the back of the bag to some other Hikari floating pellets. I notice 1 says 130 years of excellent and the new one says 110 years of excellent. I instantly thought, wow how old are these damn things. I look at the date, 2009.08. Over a year expired(or best by)!!! The floating pellets are good until 2013.
Somehow Hikari gained 20 years of experience in 2 years.
. They have cut the crude fat in half.
Needless to say, I will be going back and getting a refund even though I opened the bag. Vitamins are probably depleated, and hard as a rock I'd bet.
You think I will get money back if I raise hell? Because Im not feeding my fish this stuff.
Be advised: Check the experation date before buying pellets! Vitamins dont have an extremely long shelflife.
Would you eat anything thats a year expired? NO WAY!
