I keep him in 6.8 I've heard high ph is for kok and low ph is for color.

low ph for color, never heard of, but could be true. I know temperature matters as well for colors and head both. 83-86 is the best over all.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated! I love this fish. I'm hoping to update soon.

np, forum exists to help others out with the same interest as you. Keep us updated on his progress.

8.0 ph with crushed corals and 85degree water should make things interesting:popcorn:

SRS=super red shock=red shock=red monkey.:D

But yea, It looks like a rose queen. They are all similar breeds anyways. Eitherway, nice fish.

What PH do you have him in? try 8.0 and see if his head gets bigger.

Hope this helps,
JP

Nope their differant SRS = Super red synapsilum or however you spell it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuiNdGxbLpU&feature=related <------ red shock
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRjKMKfOJn4 <----- Red monkey

These video's are not mine. Red shocks look more like a Midas/Red devil

I stand correct. The first vid(red shock) is a lower grade or let's say not the desired RS/RM they bred for(just like the parrots, some have more red devil look in them in the face than others with stupid head, which they are going for) The 2nd video is a better quality, most likely from overseas. They are a hybrid, so the offsprings will resemble differently, some get more the mother's, some get more fathers. But they are from the same mother/father aren't they? That's why RM,RS,SRS all same thing.

Ask the breeders overseas, RM,RS,SRS(They added the "SUPER" since they are more red, but that word varies from people) all same thing;)

I was told srs by the nice fellas on flowerhornusa. Now, if I raise the ph will that affect my other fish? I have bichirs an a.a.r.t.c. a crenicichla, and a few others.

That could be another major reason from the RS to show his full potential. Take all tank mates out.
