There are many species of "silver dollars." The one pictured is Mylossoma duriventre, which according to fishbase.org gets to 10 inches SL or probably 12 inches TL once you throw in the tail. Some of the red hook species from the genus Myleus get even larger. What we normally see in the hobby is Metynnis hypsauchen, which only gets to 6 inches TL. Hope this helps clarify matters.
