I was browsing through some photos of Hong kong shops, and stumbled onto this pic. Unfortunately its the only pic, and doesnt show the face, but its very obvious what it is....CICHLA!! check out the middle fish....the largest one there..

BTW, its BIG! check out the size compared to the guys head at the front....What do you guys think, ALbino, leucistic??? Looks like a Tem BTW.

From the pic, looks pretty normal - just stressed out/faded. Check out the Giant Gourami - THAT is leucistic. (Xanthic, anyway)

yeah im thinking just pale too, look at the tail there is red, black and some yellow

no way that fish could get so pale..and the body posture does not correspond to a stresses bass...

Have seen them wash out almost completely - same as this one. Don't see how it is "unique"

I understand that...and I think that the "platinum" gourami is what is throwing you off. Big difference in the color white of each fish....but that pea is white. Not fair to compare two different species....like comparing the gold in Li's Barramundi to a gols Ogon koi...in the end both gold, but very different. if the fish paled out due to stress or due to whatever reason, it would go into "camouflage" coloration where the colors dissipate , quite a bit...not to this extent though. You would atleast see the stripes, thats the defining charactaristic here...NO stripes visible....as for the black in the ocelli, pushes me towards Leucistic ;). Also if paled out the first thing to go would be the yellow. The only pic ive seen of an albino has the green areas yellow instead of white...again pushes me to leucistic.

I agree with Miguel, the body language of this fish is not of a stressed fish, very strong posture...

I have kept Cichla, and when stressed, they either have bold bars, OR wash out completely, like in the picture. Only a better picture would ensure it's true coloration. Sorry, but I'm basing my *opinion* on what I have seen in the past, and what I am seeing in the picture :)

As am I...Its the only pic though...Wish there were another.

Maybe there is another pic somewhere! Would love to see it.
