Hey guys, tomorrow im going to go check out a 75 gallon tank from craigslist that the guy said is 2 years old. I know the basic things I need to check, the silicone seal, chips scratches or cracks in the glass, but is there anything else on the tank that I should look at specifically that isn't so obvious that could be a red flag? If anybody has any input i'd appreciate it, thanks
Check the frame carefully to make sure there are no stress fractures. Some people will let you fill the tank up on location to see if it leaks, but that is asking a lot when dealing with larger tanks.
Definitely check the frame for cracks. Pay special attention to top center brace. Make sure it is solid. I have seen them cracked, broken in two, melted, etc.
If possible, ask to have the tank filled with water before you show up. Easy to spot current leaks that way. Then while you're draining it you can inspect the silicone for wear and look for cracks in the frame.
If they refuse to prefill it without a really good reason, that would be a red flag right there.
Along these same lines, any advice for buying a used acrylic tank? I found a 75g or 100g acrylic with stand, canister, and heater for ~$200 but that seems cheap...

I'd think that is expensive. If you hold out long enough, you can usually find nearly any size tank for around $1/gallon (stands included). If it's a nice tank and you don't mind paying it though, by all means go for it. Definately cheaper than buying new.
Same general criteria would apply. Ask them to pre-fill it for you. While draining, look for excessive scratches. If they're on the inside, water will hide a lot of them. Look for hairline fractures along the seams. Plug the canister in while the tank is full and make sure it has good flow. If they will have the canister running and the tank filled/heated before you get there, even better. Depending on how long since the canister has been used, keep in mind that you may have to buy new media for it.

With acrylic check for miniature "spider veins" around the seals and on the base of tank. I you have not seen any pics of it the tank may be scratch up pretty bad and that is why it is priced so low. Acrylic seems are bonded chemically and are welded (melted) together so leaks are rare with them. check for bowing in the on all side of tank. Check the top of tank for cracks. other than that acrylic are pretty bulletproof.
