Deadeye. I am not to good with aquatic plants, but maybe the fish are picking at it. I thought you were putting it in the 5 gallon. Oscars aren't fans of plants or decorations.
In that case, I’m not to sure. I’m new to the whole plant thing myself. Hornwort is very hardy so as long as you keep it in good conditions it should bounce back.
It bounced back pretty well lol
It started with the cutting on the left next to the fake wood piece.
Edit: I know i know it needs to be cleaned . Also had to postpone getting shrimp because my FFS (far fish store) had some german rams I couldn't miss out on.
Love some Hornwortit is so easy once it takes off. Anacharis can be tougher to get going because the fish just hammer it- but once it’s going good nothing will stop it either.
Almost all my tanks have a good bit of both and corkscrew Val as well. All three seem to do well under a fluval sky LED. Outside I run those three plus water sprite water wisteria water hyacinth and frogbit- less controlled environment needs more diversity too insure something is always growing well no matter the season. my current rescue Oscar loves floating plants. Lots of ambush predators do.
This is a 10 gallon on my kitchen counter that I breed some calico HRPs in so I got something to watch while I’m cooking or eating or making coffee. Gets 2 hours of direct sun light and has a crappy little fluorescent hood. This stem of hornwort standing in the corner will be touching the surface of the water by Tuesday morning...
