How many do you recommend for a 10 gallon with a sponge filter. I do not think I need a heater as all my small tanks stay @ 82 degrees all the time.

yup, that's what i did. Worked as easy as they say it does on here. i did 4 convicts, waited for them to pair up, disposed of the extra 2 (they kept XXXX blocking each other) and then they were golden. I did have to replace the female though as the male killed her but he mated with the new fem too.
Edit: I did 2 flower pots too

I think i had to do 8 until i started seeing some action (hence being pissed off at 7 bucks a piece) . I should've just taken the online offers of 20+, even if half come in as DOA, it's better then 4-7 bucks each. At the time a couple of members on here were selling and shipping for free, they'd over stock your bags to account for DOAs.

hmm, sounds like this could get more complicated than I thought. I have breed Betas though and people seem to think that is challenging, so maybe I will give it a go. Wish I could gind a deal like that though, free shipping and overstocking!
I have a 10 gallon setup breeding cherry shrimp. They are guppies with exoskeletons. The question is more how to stop them from breeding than how to get them to. They stay in the exponential phase all the time. I don't run a heater in the tank, though I have added an overhang filter with a sponge on the intake to help keep the tank cleaner. Right now it also has about 70 baby danio in there as well.
