I agree. My pacu did the exact same thing to my aro and the aro was way bigger!

Pretty cool about the "tomato" plants.
 
Haha we had a smaller tank at one time forget what fish were in it ... But
we also had a few birds they got some of their bird food in there we didn't
realize but apparently those things took really took off!!!

They grew to the surface of the tank in no time looked rather awesome
if anyone cares to try or look up their food they were Cockatiels. :p
 
That definitely is a tomato plant sprout and I have cats and never had a problem with them getting sick from the leaves. But it will not survive to long unless it gets air. That said tomatos can be grown hydroponically (spelling is probably wrong) if you know what your doing. Have fun!!
