Getting a Hatchling, Arriving Tuesday morning
Setting up things! Advice?
Have a 3 foot x 3 foot pet That is in the corner of my computer room.

Everything is ready for arrival but,
Anything special I should know about Cherryheads?
I plan on Using Hay and News paper from bedding This ok for that?
What are some munchies to give them?
I plan on letting her outside in the Garden that uses no poisons for bugs and such. and Leave the pen open when im around.

Anything I should know?

We getting any pics of this one, or should we just go ahead and ignore this thread?

dzb912 dude is wrong and rigth at the same time:ROFL::D First of you should avoid newspaper unless is unprinted, absorvent kichen paper is better and that for quarentine and to grow your new toise a litle. Then you will need forest soil for your toise. I use zoo med forest liter for my yellow head tortoise wich is great. They like it warm and moist. What ever substrate your using you should pulverize it with warm water a bit every day. You will also need a very shallow water dish that the tortoise needs both to drink and to soak wich they love. Keep her or him warm with temps of 30 celcius in the warm side during the day and 26 celcius both in the cooler side and during the nigth. A heat pad and basking ligths combinacion is great. They also need uv ligth. For food you need a combinacion of dark leafy vegetables and calcium and fiber rich fruit. Mustard greens, turnip greens, collard greens, Hibiscus, water cress, etc along side with a litle mango ,papaya, grapes, melon and figs is ideal. Get also some reptivit. Dont ruch into putting your turtle outside, this are forest tortoises they dont like it on the open or full sun and tend to avoid both. Also lack of moist and dry weater can bring health problems as will cold and air corrents. The ideal setting outdoors is a small planted temperature controled greenhouse in a not to hot day. Of corse if you live like in Florida it doesant aply;) Also grow your tortoise quite a bit before bringing her outside. Remenbar this are tropical, temps below 20 celcius is asking for trobble
