Chick vs. rat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Keep in mind that chicks have soft bones that are not fully formed yet and would somewhat void of the calcium most snakes would be getting from adult mice and rats. I have never heard any stories o seen any research to prove it but it would seem like if you were going to give a common snake (like a corn or bp) a calcium deficiency a solid diet of chicks would be the way to do so.

My snake is a red tail boa. I was curious on the nutrition of them. Mainly to learn and if it wasn't going to deprive them of anything I would do it. I don't want to harm my snakes just to find a cheap route of keeping them. I will stick to the rats. Thanks everyone for the info.
