Chicken for fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i feed cut up chicken breasts and whole chicken hearts to my arowanas and my cichla. if they ever made it to the bottom of the tank the bichers might get a bite of a chicken heart too.. lol. i don't feed it often, but they all love it.

their main diet consists of cut up tilapia fillets, market shrimp, those itty bitty scallops, hikari cichlid gold and hikari jumbo carni sticks.

I have ocasionally fed my guys chicken, usually breast meat with all fat removed, but have wondered wether or not its a wise choice. Am surpised to see so many conflicting opinions on it.

I am no expert but as I understand it fish have difficulty digesting the proteins of hot blooded animals.Chicken is a hot blooded...That is why allot of people advise against using beef heart.

Its fine to feed. Many fish naturally get birds mammals rarely. Just keep the feeding sparse
People seem to get that fish can and do eat this naturally.
