Just curious how many folks on here have kids and get them involved in the hobby. I have a near 4 year old and 2nd child was just born on Thursday.

Took my wife to the local pet shop and she was trying to convince me to buy hot pink or purple gravel and dinosaurs for my tank. I refused as I prefer the natural look, and she then suggested setting up my extra 40g tank.

Debating the idea. Wouldn't mind trying small saltwater tank and I'm told you just need to top off water and less maintenance provided you spend the time to set them up right upfront. Obviously it would simple fish and lots of coral. Just a thought.

Got two boys. 6 and 4 but they like to go fishing in my tank.

I've caught them numerous times with one of my rods with hook in the water.

When they aren't doing that they help pick out stuff for the tank. Do some water siphoning with me. After a few minutes they get bored and leave. Always go with me to the pet stores.

Will give it some time and let the hobby come to them if they like it.

I have a 14 year old son, that is just starting to get into the hobby a little. He enjoys the trips to the fish stores, got to pick out his own Oscar. So far he is seems interested, only time will tell if he sticks with it.

I am 15 and very into the hobby. My dad kept fish as a kid but I came here on my own accord

Same with me. Im 19 and have had fish for 11 years now. My mother started getting me into fish before I was born.
