I'd rather go to bigal's and buy an emperor400 for 40.00 shipped that does the same thing....
EMP400...
Lower flowrate, less media versatility, smaller media chamber (CMIIW) and not nearly as much fun for DIY'er who is a diehard AC fan.

I totally disagree about AC110 being better i should know i own 4 of them and IMO the emp400 is a much better filter head to head. Now with the mods you made probably makes the ac110 better but without the mods the AC110 is not as good as the emp400.

Well if it is just the bio-wheels making it 'Much Better' then it really doesn't hold up head to head, it is outranked for the previously stated reasons.:raspberry
The only thing the EMP would outscore the AC on is bio, but with the addition of dedicated bio-media by first keepers and then by AC it wasn't terribly far behind.
But really, bio-wheels are IMO/IME excellent wet/dry bio-filtration, which is why I say I have the best of the best.
AC & Emp IMO own the HOB market for keepers in the know, the only HOB's I would think of owning.
This mod 'does' make AC undeniably the best!

Personally I prefered the AC110(500) over the Emp400 even without the biowheel. I do like the emp400. I think that this modification that chile made to the ac makes it that much better of a filter.

Thats exactly what i said but to me it would be far cheaper to go with the emp400 anyways hob filters are just back-up filters anyways or for small tanks.

great idea chile i am also a AC man myself the emp 400 is o.k. but a AC 500 with biowheels kicks arse best hob i have seen to date i may modify mine in the future.
