HI all!!!

well, I am brand new to the forum and let me tell yah....WOW......I love this forum!!! anyways, i'm from Saskatchewan Canada and would love to keep native species in a tank....by the way, it against the law...here in saskatchewan anyways...to keep game fish. so what setup do i need....what fish u might ask...well here we have monster pike, walleye, perch, sturgeon, burbot, and massive Crap. not to mention all the trout type fish. so can anyone help me out???

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking. However of the species you listed, none need a heater but I would say that only the trout and the burbot would need a chiller.

EDIT: Maybe the sturgeon too. I'm not sure. But unless you have an enormous tank I'd say the northern pike, muskellunge, and sturgeon will get too big for home aquaria.

sunfish....no, cat fish yes. we have them here...but not as large as you guys might get in USA.

to clarify my question........chillers. i know nothing about chillers for fresh water fish. Fish up here need cold water. I have tried to put perch in a tank and they quickly die.....in a cycled tank.

They are expensive. My LMB does well with water temp at 70 deg.

Perch don't need a chiller. Of the group you listed, the burbot, trout, and maybe the sturgeon would require a chiller. Acclimation may be the problem. You will have to make sure that you slowly bring wild caught fish to the same temperature and water parameters (floating the bag, adding small amounts of tank water to the bag every ten minutes). A perch pulled throught the ice may not be able to make the transition to a tank at 75 degrees, but if you wait til spring or summer, you should have more luck.

oh..i see....i had no clue. i will have to try that!!!! Thanks

well, i think i will have to try this summer to put some perch in my tank.

What kind of cats? Are they easy to find out there? I would be willing to make that short trip for some bullheads. It beats trying to smuggle some up here only to have them die in route.
