Temperature shock is not a new subject. Subjecting your fish to drastically different temperature change (be it colder or warmer than what they're used to) can cause serious problems.
A rapid raise in temp can cause oxygen depletion and your fish can suffocate as a result. If they don't die the stress could make way for problems like columnaris - a serious and often deadly bacterial infection.
A rapid drop in temp can cause severe shock and death. If they don't die the stress can make way for issues such as ick.

I've added cold water to a tank after a water change that was already past it's ideal temperature range due to summer temps. The change was drastic but it didn't kill any fish. It did cause the worst breakout of ich I'd ever experienced.
I had another bad outbreak recently in another tank when my tank became disconnected from the electricity and the tank went from 82*F to mid 60's overnight. Again, no deaths.

I have personally always been more concerned with water being too warm than too cold. I've lost more fish to overheating and warm-water related issues than those caused by cool water.

If you don't mind explain this "loophole"

The cooler water is introduced over the course of an hour, not a few mintues.
In the end it's only a gradual 6 degree difference.

dang! beat me to it!

Still a bad idea...so is putting tap water into your tank. pouring dechlor strait in your tank could kill all your beni bacteria..... the question was valid as the highlighted bold and italasized and underlined, section of the last post says. .....the word should have been exeption, not loophole.

Cause instead of research or studying, you would rather wait for someone to agree with. PLEASE STAY ON TOPIC OR DON"T POST.

ooooooook dude, time to :chillpill:

ive only had two outbreaks in my tank

both where from introducing unquarintined fish, other than that ive NEVER had an outbreak of ich from water changes.

and pour conditioner into the tank will NOT kill BB bacteria :p
