*sigh*

I'd like to know/see some good MFK info on these suckers they interest me quite a bit and have a few Questions:

1) How long would a 55gal/125gal last a school of these fish and how many?
2) What would be recommended tankmates, Goldfish, Cloud Minnows Hillstream Loach?
3) What's the best filtration set for these blokes?
4) Could you winter these critters over like Goldies/Koi?

Finally, What is the End-Game Pond size for them and timescale for grow-outs?

Thank you for any feedback

55gal... forget it they grow too fast. start with 200gal with 4 4inch fish but be prepared to upsize within two years.

Tank mates should be anything peaceful but no algae eaters as there is a risk the algae eaters will start to chew on the sides of the loaches. I had this happen with garras, sucking cats, red tail sharks and a pleco. Had to get rid of all of them while keeping the hi fin loaches

They are fussy about water quality. You need to keep nitrates low or they don't stay healthy. they also like lots of current

You can winter them like koi but keep the temp at a minimum of 6 degress celcius or you might lose some. that means no ice sheet. They die if you use masoten or dimilin for gill worms or lice on your koi.

End size is about 1m but they lose physical attractiveness around 60cm

Thank you for the info....Everywhere else said they were Slow growers and I've seen them at the adult stage, (look like big koi) I'll probably just create a Hillstream/cloud minnow in my 55gal and wait till I have a pond to grow them out in :)

Is he the little one one the right?

Whats the point of this forum if the only advice members can give you is to use Google?

They are awesome fish. They like cool, fast-flowing water, and are pretty flexible as far as tankmates go. However they have fast metabolisms and grow fast
