I am thinking of purchasing a 210g tank I saw on Craigslist, that comes with the stand.

They originally were asking for $1,000... but they accepted my offer of $800. I just went to take a look and there was a chip in the back corner of the glass. there was no water in the tank but the sand was still wet as they said they just drained it out the day before.

I am concerned to buy the tank becuase of the chip in the glass. they said they had it for over two years with the chip, and had no issues. Should I feel comfortable purchasing this tank?? Any insight would be appreciated!

Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of the tank or chip.

I have purchased tanks with chips in them. You can polish the chip quite a bit to make it less noticeable. I would tell them your concern about the chip and ask them for a 1 week leak guarantee. I would promptly set it up in the garage and fill it with water for a week.

Good advise. Just a heads up, people trends to lie. I've had people swear tanks held water only to find out they leak worse than an odyssea uv sterilizer.

thanks for the reply. I am mostly concerned about the placement... it is located on the corner of the glass, in the middle (height wise)

210 gallons is alot of water to clean up. . . . . .

too much money 800??? bucks you should offer them 200, thats if your sure the chip can be safely fixed, if it wer me i would walk away and look for a better bargan.good luck

kind of hard to tell on my end as far as the size of the chip in relation to the width of the glass as well.

my heart says buy it but my gut is weary. FWIW the owner seemed like a very trustworthy guy haha

I have a chip in the bottom of a tank I just bought but it dosen't leak. How do I strengthen the glass?

Marineland sells glass reinforcer. It's a liquid putty. Or if you make it mad it will become tempered which makes it 10x stronger
