Chip in tank, need advice!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that will probably work for me. I am not concerned about the cost becuase the $800 includes tank, stand, pump, sump, and lights

I am thinking of purchasing a 210g tank I saw on Craigslist, that comes with the stand.

They originally were asking for $1,000... but they accepted my offer of $800. I just went to take a look and there was a chip in the back corner of the glass. there was no water in the tank but the sand was still wet as they said they just drained it out the day before.

I am concerned to buy the tank becuase of the chip in the glass. they said they had it for over two years with the chip, and had no issues. Should I feel comfortable purchasing this tank?? Any insight would be appreciated!

Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of the tank or chip.

I've seen this same add before, the tank is in ohio right?

I would pass.

used tanks without chips have a higher risk of a problem than brand new never been filled tanks from the LFS.

nevermind a chipped one, and a 210g one at that.

too risky for a tank that big IMO.

yes the price is attractive

but do you know how much money it would cost to repair the water damage from that much water if something bad happened? it would be thousands.

not worth it.

on a 210 id be concerned, i have some very slight chipping on the outside of my 90 but its not deep at all and the seal is very new. in a 210 i'd be concerned

All depends on how deep, I have 8 tanks all above 150G with chips on the outsides not one has leaked some are 8 years coming onto the 9th but these are all little chips not going deep, just wont look nice.

If its a big chip not in the conner I would not risk it, you can always ask them to fill it so you can view.
