chlorine removal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks Rocksor Rocksor so my thought would be a sediment filter than a dual carbon filter, think that would work for removing 1 ppm ?

Yes, but make sure to read the manufacturer's directions which should state how long that carbon block will last before you replace. Higher chlorine ppm will necessitate sooner replacement time. You should also find out if and under what circumstances the water department flushes the system, allowing for more than 4ppm of chlorine in the lines

Why not just add a dosing system for Prime or some other conditioner? Otherwise, you're relying on the water company to keep consistent levels and the carbon block not to be exhausted early.

when I ran salt water tanks I really came to hate dosing pumps and timers. I understand theres pros and cons to all of this. i'm leaving for 3 weeks and am not relying on the person to take care of my tanks to properly keep it topped off. let alone try and explain the way I want it done. I lose about 5 gallons a week. plus I was thinking about expanding this when I get back to be an auto water changer.

I don't know why they sell that as it's not nearly sensitive enough. 0.5 ppm chlorine will kill within hours. Much lower levels that almost certainly will look like zero on that test strip will cause random deaths over days or even weeks.

S squint is there one that is?

There are some ulra low range test strips for dialysis like these and these but I don't really see them for sale to the general public. Prices not so great either.

The best affordable option might be a Hanna Checker. That one might be able to go down to 20 ppb which is the method limit.

I have some of those, cause my wife does home hemodialysis. I don't use them outside of her treatment, cause I have to use Prime either way, but I didn't know they were unique. I just used one this morning to check her dialysate batch. Interesting.
