I just bought a used 12g nano cube at a garage sale. i set i up and filled it with water and its been running for two days now. the tank has this horrible smeel now of chlorine (bleach) . my living smells like a pool. the water smells. i added prime but still smells. i dont know why they would have put bleach but now im paranoid that they did for whatever reason. is there anyway to test if theres bleach or something? would the prime nutralize any chlorine traces to a non toxic levels? what do i do to clean the tank of whaterver chemicals might have been used?

Prime is a dechlorinater and would essentially rid of it. Do a water test and check params. But since its not cycled id empty it out and clean it with hot water and vinegar just to be safe! Then it should be fine as long as it all leached out by now!

Whats the recipe for vineGar clean up? Yea i havent even bother puting in any decor or substrate so its easier to just clean it to be safe.

2 capfulls

Thats alot of prime man, each cap is 50 gallons worth i think. I use one capful on my 90gal but a little stress coat too. Just use a splash of vinegar to soak a rag or paper towel and clean every nook and cranny in that tank then id let the whole thing soak in a warm bathtub thats clean for a nite. Then tomorrow clean substrate add water with alot less prime (1 thread) and ur good. Pics when its done ?!

Don't use hot water to clean a tank. You may crack the glass.
