Oh, gotta love this temporalis pair, I think they were from Rapps:

I've never seen a male with that facial profile in person.

Just wanted to add a bit of info to this thread... There are actually two fish called "chocolate cichlids" (gotta love common names :)), the common one is Hypselecara temporalis, which is what people are posting pictures of here. There is another closely related species called Hypselecara coryphaenoides.

They are kind of dull normally, but they get some amazing black/yellow coloration when they're in breeding dress. I'm sure some members already know this, but just wanted to post it here in case someone didn't--they are not seen very often outside of speciality Cichlid sellers.
A very pertinant point. Temporalis is by far the flashier fish and one very much worth keeping. In my early college career around 2004 I stumbled upon a foot long traded in pair at Petco. I bought both fish for 40 dollars. What a score! I kept them in a 75 with lots of bog wood and several large Astyanax tetras. It was a wonderful tank to observe and the pair was very interactive.

These pics aren't good and he's kinda hard to see with black background but can you tell what type mine is? Bought him as "wild chocolate cichlid" from a lfs that always has some crazy stuff, when I was there last week they had a huge Tigrinus even some baby arapaima (insane). So I suppose it could be either type... I'd much rather have I temporailis tbh
