Mine is about 8", beautiful in a subtle way and not a bully, he does not need to be, he is in a 90 community and is the big boy there. I have lost one in the past that found the one opening in a covered tank and jumped out, I expect he was going for food at the time, they love to eat.

I have one as stated above there like a mellow oscar although they grow larger in the end. Lives with my GT and Arowana in total harmony.
there are 2 species that are sold as chocolates temporalis and coryphenoides
