i got this 4" male chocolate cichlid in a 40 breeder (36" x 18" x 17") could i do these fish with him? he has been in with big cichlids from the LFS i got him from and he was try to keep them from attack him.

1 pleco
3 corys
1 pearl gourami
2 Pictus catfish

he isn't staying the 40 breeder for life i am upgrading in may to a 75 gallon.
 
I don't think those tank mates would be a problem...it should work well.
 
got two myself growing out in a 20 long ( with two green severums, 7 cherry barbs and 3 blind cave fish ) upgrading to either a 55 or a 75. and they are getting along great! ( mine are no bigger then a quarter though )
