They really are great fish to have Mythic. Very personable, comes front n center anytime I walk near the tank.

This is what always has me thinking about them but while I've seen many pics of stunners I've also seen my share of dogs and I'm always in the situation where I can only get 1 more fish so I haven't been able to pull the trigger as of yet. Maybe in a couple years when I upgrade to a house with a basement and a 300+g tank I'll find some room.

I have 2 males that are pushing 10". They're about 5 years old now. The females are 8" and 7". Here's a couple of pics of one of the old pair with fry, and a young pair ~1 year too.

Do older chocolate have more stable color? The fish in the OP pics are showing the frightened color, not the happy color. My 3 inch chocolate can change color like an octopus. After 2 months in my tank, it is still afraid to come down to the bottom to feed and stays all day long near the surface at a 45 degree angle.

From what I have read about these guys, the chocolates are a lot like severums (which I keep) and they can change color like mood rings. After two months though, it should definitely have settled in. Tell us about the tank (size, water parameters, decor, etc) and any tankmates.
