Very cool. I have a love/hate thing with chocolates. Sometimes they're cool, sometimes they're ugly. I think the ugly comes with age.

lol I don't think that they are the best looking either, but he's so mellow and non problematic that he's really grown on to me. He recognizes me when I get near the tank and his colors surprsingly are real pretty when the light hits him very pale reds and purples can't wait for him to get bigger

The fish is very moody. Especially at night. When at lights are off, he fades into the background. He looks like s h!t. But in the morning. That is his color. View attachment 1228563
Mine does that as well I turn off the light on my tank at night and he gets dark and ugly while he sleeps behind his driftwood and then in the morning I turn on the light and he is hungry and ready for food with light purple and red
Yours is very nice looking. I see everyone's chocolates and I feel like there is 2 types of chocolates some look different from each other

Bought him December 16. When I put it in my tank, he is spun crazy head looking up. I thought he was going to die. We have same ph. So I confused. He looked like that for a week before he got his color back. Even now, at night his head looks white and the body looks drab brown so maybe that is normal or trauma. 20161212_131021.jpg

My gf thinks mine is always dead when she sees him in the night lol I think it's a chocolate thing

Mine were nice olive and maroon colors at the lfs, but ever since I got them home they have looked more like white chocolate cichlids. Oh well, I am sure they will color up eventually, at least I know what they can look like.

My juvies looked like that at first too. They have since colored up after adding an inch or so in size.
