lol I don't think that they are the best looking either, but he's so mellow and non problematic that he's really grown on to me. He recognizes me when I get near the tank and his colors surprsingly are real pretty when the light hits him very pale reds and purples can't wait for him to get biggerVery cool. I have a love/hate thing with chocolates. Sometimes they're cool, sometimes they're ugly. I think the ugly comes with age.
Mine does that as well I turn off the light on my tank at night and he gets dark and ugly while he sleeps behind his driftwood and then in the morning I turn on the light and he is hungry and ready for food with light purple and redThe fish is very moody. Especially at night. When at lights are off, he fades into the background. He looks like s h!t. But in the morning. That is his color. View attachment 1228563

I'm sure they will bro, they might be like wine get better with ageMine were nice olive and maroon colors at the lfs, but ever since I got them home they have looked more like white chocolate cichlids. Oh well, I am sure they will color up eventually, at least I know what they can look like.
