It probably has a lot to do with the tank. It's a 40b with pfs and a few fake plants. Once I move them I imagine they will relax and look a little better. I'm just glad they are eating well and seem pretty healthy.

I have pfs in mine, but lots of wood to darken it up some

I came across these chocolates from rio negro
They are hypslecara coryphaenoides they look pretty cool,
Not my fish they are from google just thought I'd share

The fish is very moody. Especially at night. When at lights are off, he fades into the background. He looks like s h!t. But in the morning. That is his color. View attachment 1228563

I got him from Jeff rapps labeled "Peru babies" of emerald green color and now I'm starting to see those colors

One of my favourite s/a cichlids,they just keep getting better and better with age. I would like one myself.Greedy buggers too.

Yes definitely they are like wine, he is very mellow mannered but holds his ground against the bigger Severums and true parrots. Very personable fish with laid back attitude I can't wait for his adult look.
