I've kept Chocolates for a long time now. They are amazing fish that get quite large. 10 to 12" or so. Just kinda wondering why this fish is so often over looked in the hobby. Thoughts?

It would seem in a lot of cichlid Hobbiest houses not just the Chocolate is overlooked LOL Americans in general LOL...

Here in Utah there are a couple other Hobbiests i know that are into more than just Oscars and GT's when it comes to American Cichs :)

Infact if you look at some of the signatures of the amrican keepers here :) Allot is readily available like Jacks, Sals,O's, Cons, Jags.. That are included in their sigs :)

I think they get a bad rap in their profiles that you can find on the net. It always says they are kinda peaceful and shy and they like to hide. Well unless I just got an odd one mine is the exact oposite of that. He is constantly swimming around the tank and is not afraid of me at all. He isn't what I call aggressive but he doesn't run away from my jag or synspilum. I like him a lot and the reddish hue they get is awesome looking. Really can't see it very well in pics. Especially with my skills lol

I keep regulars too...

Yeah but lets face it. Not too much compares to a full grown male GT.:D

I think it's because their name is misleading. They taste nothing like chocolate. IMO the swedish fish taste better.:)
