Japes have u ever noticed any metal intolerance of chocolate??
I'm assuming they're haevily intolerant about that ,cuz sometimes I noticed them scratching on the ground (but really seldom truly) and I think it's related to the water changes.

I realized I have to rest the tap water for about a day with the dechlorinator.

You mean 'flashing', swiping sideways quickly along rocks or on the gravel? Quite normal, sometimes an indication of Ich/Whitespot but usually it's just normal behavior like scratching an itch. I'm blessed with what I do believe is great tap water and just spray straight into my tank and dechlorinate (Seachem Prime) when it's full. Haven't seen any issues.

I give mine a mix of 4-6 different kinds of pellets, various frozen foods (krill, plankton, shrimps etc),feeders occasionally but he really goes absolutely nuts for live insects and earth worms! When (after I wash them off good) I pitch in some worms my choc usually beats the pike and oscar to em. I feel mine really makes the tank so to speak very cool looking, docile (almost all the time) and very personable.

Mine goes mental for insects, it's what they feed on in their natural habitat. If I have my lights on at nighttime and there are bugs flying around he will be sitting at the surface watching them waiting for them to either crash into the water or burn themselves on the light.

Also goes mental for bugs I put in from the compost and earthworms. Pretty much any food apart from fish really :p

infact I fed them too with insects.
they're not piscivores as well in their natural habitat, but I guess they could eat tiny caracins...
