well, you just put it in with fish who have been in the tank for a while. of course it's a wimp. Try rearranging the tank, so all the fish need to establish new territories. then it will be on even footing and maybe integrate a little better
No I didn't put just him in the tank with all the other fish in there already. The jag,jd, and gt were in there, thats it. I added the chocolate, salvini, nicaraguensis, and firemouth in at once and all these second additions were larger than the first residents.

I just got one. He is about 6 inches long and he is pretty laid back. Does not bother anyone. There is a slightly smaller FH that chases the chocoloate all over the place. I always understood the chocoloates to be one of the more less aggressive cichlids.
Yeah, thats been my experience so far also. Not very aggressive at all. Thats the trouble with books, every one of them characterizes fish differently. Seems like few agree on everything. I guess thats just the nature of cichlids, when put into an artificial environment they just don't all act the same.

It will also vary from fish to fish. I've had oscars that would not let anything in the tank with it and others that could care less. As long as he is being fed anyway:ROFL:
