I've seen numerous people recommend them, and my LFS even has some in stock. I have to admit, I'm not big on how they look, but what is so great about them? I've read that they have similar personalities as oscars? Input? Thanks.
wonderfull fish to own. gets really big, but dosnt agress others.
it can fight back though, its just a more neutral less violent fish.
large males can look stunning! both sexes have been known to devlope nuchal humps
yep thats my old chocolate, when i went on holiday the stupid lady forgot to feed him so he died!
when i got him i couldnt find much info so i thought id make a sticky for him on that forum =)
i had one for quite a few months until it succumbed to nasty basterial infections from an un-q'd CK.
he was real cool looking, nice long fins and trailers, and was extremely mellow. just loafed and floated around alot of the day unti feeding time. like an oscar, seemed to hang out on the side of the tank thats closest to where i am, and would follow me around.
I had one, and I found it to be a pretty unaggressive fish. Very personable, although not as outgoing and active as something like oscars. I really recommend them, and will hopefully get more someday.
I have a juvinile at the moment. Very peacefull compared with the other American cichlids in the tank. Looks very like an Oscar in shape. This fish tends to hang out at the surface in an almost vertical position and jump for flies. so keep your hood closed!!!
I don't see anything special about them either. They were big in the hobby years ago. One of those fish every LFS had in stock like jack dempseys, firemouths, convicts, and red devils nowadays. Fish come and go.
