Chocolate eating habits ?

I don't find them picky at all. Having said that I feed mine NLS, Omega One Super Veggie Pellets, On occasion some freeze dried blood worms but not too often. They do seem to prefer floating foods over sinking but have no problem going to the bottom if that's where the food is (The NLS sinks). IME Chocolates like to look up, the classic heads up posture so they seem to prefer food at the surface. HTH.

My young chocolate was picky so I held off food for a day or two . I also went to mini pellets which also seemed to help now he eats anything I put in the tank .

Mine was never picky. Pellets, shrimp, earthworms, pieces of fish, even crickets. I don't recall it being big on picking up anything off the substrate, ignored spinach, small fish.

I feed mine with Hikari floating pellets and he eats like a pig until the belly is packed solid. I have not seen mine feed from the bottom, probably because he is afraid of his tankmates as he is the newest and smallest fish in the tank. He looks and behaves like a young oscar, constantly tilting at a 45 degree angle surveying the surface for food. I wonder if chocolate is the closest relative of oscar.

Mine eats everything too

Wow that's weird mine seems very healthy but doesn't eat very well. he will devour blood worms once a week but don't seem to like the staple pellets, flakes , he loves night crawlers and crickets.

You should stop feeding the crickets and nightcrawlers for a while and concentrate on getting it on pellets then you can treat with the other foods on occasion. The pellets should be the main diet. Try getting it on NLS.
