Chocolate Snakehead.......?

I bought him but i cant get a good Picture of him.
This is the best i can do at the moment !
It has white spots on it's anal fin and dorsal fin it has one black spot on it's claudal fin with a red/orange ring around it he's about 6" long very skinny at the moment !
I think it maybe the channa marulioides ( Emperor Snakehead )

It seems to have light golden/brown stripe on the sides of the face can't really notice any bumps other than his eyes.contender said:
Thanks for info,we will definitely go,difficult to tell from pics,looks like marulias or marulioides,can you find out country it was imported from.If its India it will be marulias or giant snakehead,big big monster,seperate tank etc,if its Indonesia or around its a marulioides,20-24",can be kept with large fish with caution.

hope it isn't one of these the problem with snake heads people have so many names for them, for example this one has been called Channa marulius or giant snakehead; great snakehead; cobra snakehead; Indian snakehead; Bullseye Snakehead; but haveing had one i can tell you. This species is reported to be one of the largest of the family Channidae, reaching a length of 120-122 cm and its shall we say a bit nippy :drool:

it has all the same spots on the fins as the above fish Channa marulius and the same Ocellus on the claudal fin but it dosen't have any sort of indication that it's going to have the same markings on the side of the body.

Thanks for all your feedback as soon as i can get a better picture i'll post it he's acting very shy at the moment he's hid near my spray bar since i got him in my tank.He's not been very active at all so far .
I DON'T SUPPOSE ANYONE HAS PIC'S OF THE channa marulioides ( Emperor Snakehead ) AND THE Channa marulius AS JUVINILES THEN I COULD TELL YOU WHICH ONE IT LOOKS LIKE .

Mine has a longer body at 6" and it is a chocolate colouration with lots of tiny white spots on it fins it has a black spot on the claudal fin with a redish/orange circle surrounding it i think it's the channa maruloides
It looks like this but with white spots on the fins Claudal, Dorsal and anal fin.
channa marulius youngter. about 4" long. see this one has white spots on the tail. a banded face when feeling different, and then the bands on the sides come out too. then there are the bumpson the top of the head.
i wonder how many other channas have bumps like that?
